Leggett was born in Co.Wicklow, Ireland. He studied law at London University and at the Inns of Court School of Law, Gray's Inn, London, which was followed by a Master's degree in Humanities (Classical Rhetoric). His PhD was in Corporate Communications. He is now a professor in the Department of Managing People in Organizations at IESE Business School of University of Navarra.
